icewoman: Янг Йююань закончила выступления.... Sunday, September 15, 2013 Jiang Yuyuan Ends Her Gymnastics Career China's Jiang Yuyuan has ended her gymnastics career for good. Yuyuan who was meant to compete at National Games, has instead supported her team quietly. “Of course I am disappointed, but there is nothing I can do. This is the best decision for my team.” said Yuyuan whom did not make the team “It is such a pity that I cannot compete at the National Games my final competition.” Although disappointed of not making the national games her final competition, Jiang described her career as quite complete.“Most importantly, I retired safely without serious injuries. I am really happy about that”, Yuyuan optimistically replied. The 21 year old former gymnast has enrolled in a local university majoring in Sports Training and hopes to contribute to her team in the future. However, she doesn't think of becoming a coach because “there is too much pressure when one is at that position.” Jiang started gymnastics because her parents wanted her to become physically stronger. Jiang said that she did not like the sport as a child and her parents made her do it. She described gymnastics as "a very tough sport", she only began to enjoy it when she began achieving good results. Looking back at her career “I felt that I was quite superb when I became an Olympic champion, because this is what normal people can’t achieve. I really miss that feeling. I will never forget my days as an athlete, especially my coach and my team’s care” said Yuyuan whom helped her team to win their first ever Olympic title in 2008. Beside her Olympic gold medal, Yuyuan currently holds the highest position of a female Chinese all arounder at World championships.
